USB Projector Connection Instructions
To connect your phone to a projector via USB, you will need the following:
- A USB-C or micro
USB cable. Make sure that this is long enough to reach from your phone to the
projector. A playstation 4 controller adapter may also be used in place of a
wireless controller dependent on your projectors connectivity. If using an extension,
use one with good quality data transfer rate that is at least 5 meters in
length, otherwise lag may result.
- A compatible usb plug for the opposite port on the
projector (USB C cables are typically used for newer laptops and phones). If
your projector does not have a USB C port, you can use a mini USB to micro USB
converter.
- A compatible speaker that is compatible with your phone
and the projector.
- A wireless controller or an HDMI cable long enough to
reach from your phone to the projector, if no wired controller is available.
- Alternatively, a micro SD card with music or video files
loaded (with an adapter) may also be used instead of a speaker as long as it is
in MP3 format.
Preparation: The first thing you will need to do is
put your phone into "USB Debugging" mode. This setting can be found
in settings -> developer options (or similar). It is important that you do
not do anything while your phone is in this mode. After you have done this, you
can now connect to the device using a cable. This is best done by plugging a
USB C cable into the projector and your phone, then sliding it into the
projector before pressing SEND on your phone. Your phone will probably indicate
that there is no connection and that it has detected a new device, in which
case simply keep holding SEND until the initial connection attempt has failed.
If you are using an adapter, you will start in "device
detection mode". If a wireless controller is being used, you can actually
connect as soon as the connection has been established.
If your phone does not work with the projector, it may be
that your device is improperly configured. Try unplugging and re-plugging both
devices before trying again.
Note: Do not connect to more than one device at a time
when using this method, otherwise lag may result. This is unlikely to be an
issue in game play but could prove problematic if playing videos or music
files.
This method should work with any USB C or micro USB
compatible device. Some older devices may not work but most newer phones
should. However, a specific test has not been made so is not guaranteed to work
with all devices.
Not all USB C or micro USB cables are compatible with your
phone. As such, it is recommended that you purchase a new cable if you are
unsure whether one will fit your device or not. While plugging the cable in and
out may disconnect the connection briefly on some cables, this should simply be
enough time for the connection to be reestablished by repeatedly plugging and
unplugging it into the projector and phone. This does not usually result in
data loss or an error message as long as it is done repeatedly without any
disconnections occurring (e.g.
